Events to consider for the holidays this 2022!
The skyline of Miami is amazing throughout the year, but the city lights are amazing during the holidays. Whether you want a yacht experience for New Year’s Eve, a day trip before heading to see the Nutcracker, or get your toys to The Wharf for the Riverside Holiday Village Toy Drive, Prime Experiences is here to make the season brighter.
The following list will provide you with a few ideas of the activities throughout Miami this holiday season. Take the time to enjoy it with your family and friends!
Shopping
Bringing a little bit of New York City to Miami, Urbanspace Holiday Market on Lincoln Road is open from 10 a.m.to 8 p.m. The outdoor market features around one hundred local and out-of-state vendors offering everything from unique decorations, apparel, artwork, jewelry, and toys. Artisan foods and beverages are also on hand if you need a little hot cocoa to warm yourself up between purchases.
The market is available through February 15 of 2023 and provides an excellent place to get those one-of-a-kind gifts for anyone on your list.
Lights
Zoo Lights, Nightgarden at Fairchild, and the Symphony in Lights Holiday Celebration at Gulfstream Park are just a few outings this holiday season that will give children of every age, from 1 to 100, the magic of the season.
Zoo lights run on select evenings from now through December 30. Over one million lights, animals, arts and crafts, and Santa through December 23. The Zoo gift shop will be open to purchase gifts for animal lovers and hot chocolate and cookies are available as you walk through the zoo.
Twenty-three acres of an enchanted garden await you at Fairfield Botanic Gardens each Wednesday through Sunday night. A short drive from Miami to Coral Gables is worth the trip to join the Fairy Quest, talk to wise old trees and sample some of Miami’s finest food trucks.
Every hour on the hour from 6 p.m. to 11 p.m. Gulfstream Park at Hallandale Beach is home to one of Miami’s finest, and free, light displays. The display will be available through December 31. You can shop, dine, and if you check out the dates on their site, you might even see Santa stalking about.
Performances
The days of going house to house singing carols are sadly dwindling away. That doesn’t mean that we can’t enjoy the music of the holidays though.
Beginning on December 16th, an annual tradition is being performed through Christmas Eve at Ziff Ballet Opera House in Miami. George Balanchine’s The Nutcracker, performed by the Miami City Ballet is a magical diversion from the hustle and bustle of the holidays.
Collins Park presents a “family-friendly, free beachfront concert of Beethoven’s Symphony N. 9 (Ode to Joy), performed by Orchestra Miami, Miami’s premiere professional orchestra,” on December 31. Festivities begin at 7 p.m. on New Years Eve and the fireworks start when the year is over!
Events
Santa’s Enchanted Forest is open from now through January 8, 2023, from 5 p.m. to midnight. Their new location at 7400 NW 87th Avenue in Miami, encompasses over forty acres of rides, shows, food, lights, and attractions.
Holidays at Miami’s Children’s Museum encompass all the holidays associated with the season. From daily sock skating to a New Year’s Eve Noon Balloon drop, the museum is open daily from 10 a.m.–1:30 p.m.; 2:30 p.m.– 6 p.m. except for Christmas Eve, Christmas Day and open until 3 p.m. on New Year’s Eve and opening at 1 p.m. on New Years Day. Games, crafts, and even recipes will be shared for all the holidays of the season including Hanukkah, Kwanzaa, and Bodhi Day!
Winterland at the Farm provides your family with amazing lights and decorations as well as paddle boats, tractor rides, and ponies! Fun throughout the year, the Winterland at Pinto Farm in Miami delivers all the activities available throughout the year with the addition of the holidays.
For an adult-centered holiday event, Riverside Holiday Village at the Wharf has created a holiday village on the river. Beginning on December 15 through Christmas Day, there will be toy drives, visits from Santa, and, for those so inclined, a holiday pop up bar featuring “festive craft cocktails”.
